The All-Star Break is a tough time in the baseball-loving Susanka House. Nearly five days without meaningful games feels like an almost impossible stretch, and this year was no exception. By Wednesday night, I was searching for ways to slake the thirst. So is it really any surprise that I find myself recommending a baseball movie this week? No; no, it's not.
The film in question? John Sayles' Eight Men Out, easily of my favorite baseball movies of all time. It boasts an outstanding cast, features some great sports cinematography (and early 1900's-era art direction), and is currently streaming on AMAZON PRIME.
A dramatization of the Black Sox scandal when the underpaid Chicago White Sox accepted bribes to deliberately lose the 1919 World Series.
